After speaking to seniors and looking at many deals on the net. I finally finalised on one laptop. And the best thing is i bought it on India's 60th Birthday. 60th Independence Day of India.
Dell Inspiron has become very common here around, so i thought taking something different. So thought of going for HP. And plus point with HP is it comes with inbuilt WebCam and Mic.
I chose my deal on Deals2buy.com and chose HP Pavilion (2.GHz Intel Core Duo T2450 , 1GB DDR2, 160GB, DVD±RW DL, Windows Vista Home Premium, 15.4" LCD - MPN: GA378UA).
The price then was $849 with $200 rebate, that comes to $649. Then i upgraded the RAM to 2GB. So another $89 for that + $30 for installing the new RAM.
I took this deal last week which had $200 rebate on it. i.e $150 rebate from the showroom from where i bought it - CompUSA and $50 rebate from HP - they give to everybody who buys a HP Notebook.
In US rebate is a nice way of making people take stuff. Sometimes they have online rebate and you can fill them quickly , but most of them are mail rebate and they should be filled in and sent within 45 days of purchase. Even you can get a printer completely free of cost , but you need to pay before and rebate it later. They will definitely send the rebate by check to you , but most of the times people forget sending for the rebate and the companies make nice money ..
But now its slightly more than the last week price.
